Khammam: Dalits and TRS cadres erupted into jubilant festivities in Chintakani mandal in the district over Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s decision to implement Dalit Bandhu Scheme on a pilot basis in the mandal.

ZP Chairman, L Kamalraj led the celebrations at the mandal headquarters on Wednesday and performed ‘Palabhishekam’ to the portraits of BR Ambedkar and the Chief Minister. Dalits and TRS workers took out a rally, burst crackers, cut cakes, shared sweets and danced to drum beats celebrating the occasion.

Speaking to media persons, ZP Chairman thanked Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao for selecting Chintakani mandal in Madhira Assembly (SC) constituency for implementing the scheme. He said Dalits cutting across political affiliations were happy at the State government’s decision.

“Telangana Chief Minister is a Dalit saviour. He introduced Dalit Bandhu Scheme with the objective of achieving Dalit empowerment. Dalits in the constituency, especially those in Chintakani mandal would always be indebted to the Chief Minister” Kamalraj averred.

In a statement, Transport Minister, Puvvada Ajay Kumar and TRS party Lok Sabha leader, Khammam MP, Nama Nageswara Rao have also expressed their pleasure at the selection of Chintakani mandal for the scheme’s implementation and thanked the Chief Minister for that.

The government has taken Dalit Bandhu implementation prestigiously after its launch in Huzurabad on Aug 16 to uplift poor Dalits and all Dalits in Chintakani mandal would be eligible for availing the scheme, which would brighten up their lives, Ajay Kumar said. The time has come for the Dalits in the State to become financially empowered as the Chief Minister has been giving utmost priority to their welfare.

“Dalit Bandhu is going to set a trend in terms of Dalit empowerment in the country”, the MP noted adding that during a recent parliament session he suggested to the Centre to implement the scheme across the nation.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Kolli Babu, a Dalit from Chintakani mandal, said all Dalits in mandal were elated at the Chief Minister’s decision. The scheme was a unique and revolutionary one as no other State was offering Rs 10 lakh to promote entrepreneurship among Dalits, he said.
