Danam Nagender admits lack of coordination in Telangana Congress
Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender admitted coordination issues within the Telangana Congress government, criticised the concentration of leadership, spoke about GHMC leadership challenges, dismissed speculation over differences between Revanth Reddy and Rahul Gandhi, and commented on HYDRAA demolitions and the Cabinet expansion.
Hyderabad: Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender has admitted that there is a lack of coordination between several Ministers and MLAs in the Congress government despite repeated instructions from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Speaking in an interview with a social media channel, Nagender said some senior Ministers were not taking the Chief Minister’s directions seriously. He also acknowledged the existence of groups within the party.
Nagender also criticised the Chief Minister for trying to remain at the centre of every government and party programme. He said leaders should be given a free hand to execute works instead of concentrating every initiative around one person.
The Khairatabad MLA is facing allegations of switching loyalties to the Congress after being elected on a BRS ticket. Speaking about the GHMC elections, he said the Congress lacked strong leadership in Greater Hyderabad and that the vacuum needed to be filled. He said everyone claimed to be a leader in the city while the opposition remained strong. He predicted that the next Assembly election would again be a contest between the Congress and the BRS.
Praising the BRS leadership, Nagender said party president K Chandrashekhar Rao monitored every development from his residence, while KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao were intelligent and capable political leaders.
“Former Chief Ministers YS Rajasekhara Reddy and K Chandrashekhar Rao have earned people’s trust through welfare and development initiatives. I still hold KCR in high regard,” he remarked.
On the proposed Cabinet expansion, Nagender said the Chief Minister was already dealing with several challenges and adding new Ministers could create fresh issues.
He said the Congress high command examined every aspect before taking decisions, including whether recommendations came from the Chief Minister personally or from the party.
Nagender dismissed speculation of differences between Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. He said the Chief Minister had been meeting the Gandhi family regularly, unlike in the past when Chief Ministers met the party leadership only once in six months.
Commenting on the POCSO case involving a Union Minister’s son, Nagender said repeatedly highlighting the issue was unfair and could damage the reputation and future of a young person.
Referring to HYDRAA demolitions, he cautioned that demolishing huts or small dwellings could politically hurt both the Congress and the government. He said alternative accommodation should be provided before carrying out such demolitions.
