Muzaffarnagar: A customary dance by a groom-to-be left him poorer by Rs two lakh.

The problem was that the groom-to-be was not dancing at the wedding venue or his house-he was dancing in a moving car and taking selfies.

The incident came to light after a video was recorded by a passer-by named Ankit Kumar, who tweeted it to the Uttar Pradesh traffic police.

“During my journey from Haridwar to Noida, some people in Muzaffarnagar district were putting others’ lives in danger for their entertainment. Hope the traffic police will take cognizance of the matter,” Kumar wrote in the tweet.

The video purportedly shows a man, dressed as a groom, standing inside a moving car and taking selfies while doing car stunts along with his friends.

Taking suo motu cognisance of the tweet, Senior Superintendent of Police, Abhishek Yadav, alerted the traffic police in Muzaffarnagar about the video and ordered them to take strict action.

SP traffic Kuldeep Singh said, “Based on the video, nine vehicles have been identified and we have issued challans of Rs 2 lakh against the owners.

Besides this, appropriate action will be taken under relevant sections.

All the vehicles have a Delhi registration number.
