Dasara celebrated with rousing fanfare, grandeur in Adilabad
People from all walks of life, dressed in their best attire, gathered at special venues of the festival and witnessed the customary event Ravana dahanam, which symbolises victory of good over evil

Adilabad: The annual Dasara/ Dussehra festival was celebrated with a rousing fanfare and much fervor across erstwhile Adilabad on Saturday.
People from all walks of life, dressed in their best attire, gathered at special venues of the festival and witnessed the customary event Ravana dahanam (burning of Ravana effigy), which symbolises victory of good over evil.
People then exchanged greetings of the occasion by sharing leaves of sacred Jammi tree (Prosopis cineraria) after performing certain special prayers to the plant.
In some places, the celebrators arrived onto the roads where processions belonging to the finale of Durga devi navaratri festivities were being carried out. They danced to the drum beats and folk songs as part of celebrations. The air was filled with the festive mood all over the four districts.
Local legislators participated in the glittering celebrations held in Adilabad, Bellampalli, Sirpur (T), Mancherial, Nirmal, Khanapur and Asifabad constituencies.
MLAs Payal Shankar, A Maheshwar Reddy, Vedma Bojju, Harish Babu, Kova Laxmi, Dr Vivek, Vinod, Mancherial performed prayers at the sacred trees and joined the celebrators.
