Warangal: Government Chief Whip and Warangal West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar felicitated Akhil Rasamalla, the young mountaineer from Hanamkonda who scaled Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain on the European continent.
A resident of Kishanpura in Hanamkonda, Akhil called on the Chief Whip at his camp office here on Thursday. Bhaskar congratulated and felicitated Akhil for successfully conquering Mt Elbrus, which is situated in the western part of the Caucasus Mountains, at a height of 5,642 m (18,510 ft) above sea level. “I will support and encourage sportspersons and other young talent who take up new challenges. I will also help Akhil in his future expeditions,” the MLA promised.
Akhil’s name already figures in the High Range Book of World Records for scaling the 6,153 meter Stok Kangri. He also conquered Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa, and Mt Stok Kangri in Ladakh in the past.
