David Warner was clearly struggling on return: Zaheer Khan

"We could see the indications that David Warner is not fully fit. When he was trying to take a quick single, his facial expressions were telling that he is still in pain. But he showed intent, tried to rotate the strike,” said Zaheer Khan.

Hyderabad: After Joe Burns’ struggle as the opener in the first two Tests, Australia’s regular opener David Warner made it to the side for the third Test. However, the team management took the risk of playing him despite the batsman not being fully fit.

The dashing left-hander, however, could not do much with the bat after being dismissed for just 5 runs. Former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan said that they could see Warner not fully fit on the pitch while batting. “We could see the indications that David Warner is not fully fit. When he was trying to take a quick single, his facial expressions were telling that he is still in pain. But he showed intent, tried to rotate the strike,” said Zaheer Khan.

“The way he got out was also an aggressive shot. He was trying to maintain a higher run rate. Yes, he was not successful today but this is what he is known for. That is why everyone was saying that if he stays for some time in the middle, there will be more problems for India,” added Khan.
