More than 350 amateur runners turned up at the inaugural edition of ‘Dawn to Dusk’ stadium run challenge organised by Hyderabad Runners Society (HRS) at The Gaudium Sportopia on Sunday.
Hyderabad: More than 350 amateur runners turned up at the inaugural edition of ‘Dawn to Dusk’ stadium run challenge organised by Hyderabad Runners Society (HRS) at The Gaudium Sportopia on Sunday.
The run which coincided with the annual Hyderabad Marathon that had to be postponed due to Covid-19, involved runners completing a gruelling 12-hour team relay-run or solo run in the stadium at RC Puram, Sangareddy district.
About 40 solo runners and 52 teams, each team consisting of six runners, participated in the event. While solo runners comprised ultra-runners who are accustomed to non-stop running for more than 12 hours, the members of each of the 52 teams ran for two hours each (one following the other) to complete 12-hours of non-stop running. The stadium run started at 6 am on Sunday and concluded at 6 pm.
The race was flagged off by Project Director, ORR and MD, Hyderabad Growth Corridor, BM Santhosh, Chairman,The Gaudium Group, along with Nityananda Reddy and Founder and Director of The Gaudium Group, Kirthi Reddy.
The run was conducted by following all the Covid protocols and was supported by the volunteers from Hyderabad Runners and the Gaudium group. A team of over 70 doctors and paramedics from Care Hospitals were available to attend to any medical emergencies.
