Day after KTR’s ultimatum, Irrigation officials promise water from Ranganayaka Sagar

Rajanna-Sircilla: A day after BRS working president KT Rama Rao served an ultimatum on the State government over the release of irrigation water for farmers in Sircilla, officials visited the Ranganayaka Sagar canal in Jakkapur of Thangallapalli mandal on Monday.
Irrigation officials led by Superintendent Engineer Ravinder and farmers examined the canal and promised to release water into the canal to protect standing crops. The SE also promised to enhance the water flow.
Farmers from Jillella, Nerella, Chinnalingapur, Ramachandrapuram and Dacharam of Thangallapalli mandal had on Sunday met Rama Rao and requested him to take steps to release water into the canal from Ranganayaka Sagar. Responding to the farmers’ request, Rama Rao spoke to the irrigation SE over phone and requested him to protect the standing crops by releasing water into the canal. Based on Rama Rao’s instructions, irrigation officials on Monday visited the canal and assured to supply water up to Jillella. Water would be supplied equally to all farmers, they assured.
Officials also promised to take steps to provide compensation to farmers who lost their lands in the canal as well as to release a pending compensation of Rs.55 lakh.
