Hyderabad: After MLAs complained of a lack of coordination and cooperation from a few Ministers, some District Congress Committee presidents have now raised concerns over non-cooperation from legislators.
DCC presidents from eight constituencies reported a lack of support from their respective MLAs. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and the AICC leadership have issued directions to focus on the issue, and discussions were immediately held with the MLAs concerned, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud admitted here on Tuesday.
During an informal interaction with media persons, Mahesh Kumar Goud said the DCC training sessions were conducted strictly, and training certificates were denied to eight DCC presidents from AP and Telangana for failing to attend more than one day of the 10-day camp.
He said invitations would be extended to the Maoists who surrendered last week to join the Congress if they expressed willingness. “The Congress had opposed Operation Kagar. Though there are ideological differences, we have respect for those who fight for the people,” Goud said, adding that the party would not seek anyone’s support and that those willing to join could approach it.
Mahesh Kumar Goud admitted that he had discussed Rajya Sabha candidate selection with Rahul Gandhi at Shamshabad airport on Monday and that a list of 16 aspirants had been submitted to him. The AICC would announce the Rajya Sabha candidates on Wednesday, he said, adding that there was a demand from leaders to nominate four eligible and capable BC leaders.
On Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s remarks, the TPCC president said Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy had already responded.
“The Kerala Chief Minister was speaking purely for political reasons. The Congress party will form the government in Kerala,” Goud claimed.
