Deaths in manhole: GHMC says contractor did not follow rules
Two workers died on Tuesday night after they entered into a stromwater drain manhole located in Padmavati Colony in GHMC’s LB Nagar zone to clean it.

Hyderabad: Following the death of two workers in a manhole on Tuesday night, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Wednesday said the contractor had executed the desilting works without complying with norms.
Two workers died on Tuesday night after they entered into a stromwater drain manhole located in Padmavati Colony in GHMC’s LB Nagar zone to clean it.
The two workers who died on Tuesday night were not GHMC staffers and worked for the contractor B Yellaiah. The contractor was handed over the work of cleaning silt form manholes of stormwater drain pipelines for Rs 12.70 lakh.
GHMC also said in a press release that the corporation wasn’t involved in the works that were executed in Padmavati Colony on Tuesday.
