Debt-ridden Medak farmer couple attempts suicide, husband dies
A farmer couple from Pothireddpally village in Telangana’s Medak district attempted suicide due to mounting debts of Rs. 5 lakh, incurred while arranging their daughters’ weddings. The husband succumbed to the poison, while his wife remains in critical condition at Gandhi Hospital.

Medak: Unable to clear debts of Rs. 5 lakh incurred over the years, a farmer couple attempted suicide by consuming weedicide at their residence in Pothireddpally village of Kulcharam mandal on the night of September 14.
The couple, identified as Neerudi Narsimhulu (42) and his wife Yashodha (40), were shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad the following day as their condition turned critical. Narsimhulu died on Thursday night, while Yashodha remains in a critical condition.
The couple owned a small plot in the village but had borrowed Rs. 5 lakh from relatives and friends to perform the weddings of their two daughters. With no hope of repaying the loans from agricultural earnings, they decided to end their lives. The police have registered a case and investigation is on.
