Hyderabad: Unlike newcomers who come usually with a lot of enthusiasm while displaying vibrant energy into the film industry, debutante Ashish is well grounded with a soft demeanour.
He has already had first-hand experience of how the industry functions. After studying film courses in the USA, the young actor took a plunge at films when he got a chance to work as an Assistant Director for the film ‘Kerintha’. Then flew to Mumbai to learn the nuances of acting and dance under Bikshu and Satyanand.
The concept of rivalry between college students in ‘Rowdy Boys’ from two different wings of engineering and medicine has piqued the interest of Ashish. Firstly, the actor had to train himself, along with other lead characters in a workshop.
“Director Harsha Konuganti wrote the script keeping his college incidents and the behavior of students at that particular age. I didn’t have to take any references from any film. From a very young age, I’ve been performing during family events that earned me a name and gradually my interest drifted towards acting,” shares Ashish.
“Allu Arjun is my favourite actor and an inspirational figure. I always wanted to work like him. Being an introvert, I had my doubts initially. Acting and theatre courses in Mumbai helped me to take a plunge into movies. Working under acting gurus like Bikshu garu and Satyanand garu gave me immense confidence. I even worked as an AD for a film to know the craft properly,” he adds.
Ashish likes to take a shot at rom-coms and college campus stories. “I want to see how audiences react to ‘Rowdy Boys’ and to the character that I have played in it. Also, director Harsha is of my age group, so it was easy for me to match his understanding and we were able to pull off the film with the desired output.
Dance-heavy songs are again major highlights to the story. I enjoy dancing. I am glad with the response that I’ve shown ease. It’s the biggest compliment,” says the actor, who shed 25 kilos for the movie.
