Suryapet: Deep excavation of sand in a flowing stream led to drowning of a woman in Makhta Kothagudem village in Athmakur (s) mandal in the district on Friday, police said.
It was said that the woman, Veeraboina Pulamma (34) was on her way to the agriculturl fields on Friday morning.
She was wading through water in the stream and did not realise that there was a deep pit formed due to excavation of sand. She fell into it and drowned. It is surmised that she was not aware of the deep pit created due to sand excavation.
A toddy tapper who watched she drowing from atop the palm trea, hurried down and rushed to save her, but it was too late then. Police shifted the woman’s body to Government General Hospital at Suryapet for autopsy.
