Karimnagar: A woman candidate, who lost the gram panchayat election, allegedly attacked voters for not casting their votes in her favour. The incident occurred at Molangur village in Shankarapatnam mandal on Tuesday.
According to villagers, Kamarunnisa had contested as a ward member from the eighth ward of Molangur gram panchayat and was defeated in the polling held on Sunday.
On Tuesday, she allegedly went to the houses of two women, Dasari Padma and Priyanka, and picked an argument with them, claiming that she had lost the election because their family members did not vote for her.
As the argument escalated, Kamarunnisa allegedly attacked them. One of the women sustained injuries and was shifted to the Huzurabad Area Hospital in a 108 ambulance. Family members of the victims later lodged a complaint with the police.
