Hyderabad: The smartphone buying trend is seeing an increased appetite for affordable premium segment, 5G-enabled smartphones, fast charging and hyperlocal delivery. With the pandemic pushing most of us to make smartphones as our new essential for all our daily needs, consumers are willing to pay more in order to get their hands on quality smartphone.
A survey conducted by Flipkart showed that 50 per cent of users currently using smartphone under Rs 15,000 are willing to upgrade to a higher price segment while 30 per cent of the consumers aspire to own a phone priced above Rs 20,000.
In addition, the survey, titled Most Essential Survey conducted in August 2021, showed that 5G-ready devices are being preferred and 47 per cent of consumers are willing to pay a premium for a 5G-enabled smartphone.
Fast-charging smartphone feature was a big positive for consumers with 75 per cent of them in the Rs 20,000 price segment are keen on faster charging. Young consumers below the age group of 30 years are showing a strong preference for performance-driven phones. Flipkart’s quick 90-minute fast delivery saw a growth in markets like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi-NCR, and Pune.
Camera sensor was another big feature in demand among the younger generation which consists of 35-40 years old age group.
