Bhongir: A joint team of police and revenue officials carried out a demolition drive on Vadaparthi village main road in Bhongir district on Saturday morning and it triggered protests.

Small sheds and homes built by farmers on their own land on the roadside were demolished. They had built tiny shops for selling vegetables and other agricultural produce. The officials got them pulled down, allegedly without any prior notice on the pretext that they were built in violation of rules.

The affected families staged protests on the road.
