Hyderabad: A dental college student died when she came under the wheels of a lorry after skidding off from her bike at KPHB Colony.

M Adhi Reshma, 22, a native of Shastrinagar at Badwel in Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh, was pursuing dental course from HKESS Nijalingappa Dental College at Gulbarga in Karnataka. She came to the city two days ago and was staying at her friend’s hostel in Addagutta in KPHB Colony.

She came to the city to board a flight to Varanasi from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad on Sunday along with her family members. On Saturday night, Reshma along with her friends Sreeja, Mamatha, Ajay Kumar and Sravan Kumar went to a mall at Madinaguda and watched a movie.

Around 11.40 pm, they were proceeding on their bikes towards the KPHB Colony from Miyapur. Reshma was driving a two-wheeler given by her friend Ajay Kumar despite knowing that she did not possess a driving license. Moreover, she was not wearing a helmet, the police said.

On the way between metro pillar numbers 660 and 661, a driver of an unknown vehicle overtook her bike and sped away due to which she panicked and fell down on the main road. At the same time, a lorry bearing registration number TS 30T6899 came in the same direction in a rash and negligent manner and hit her resulting in multiple injuries and she died.

The lorry driver B. Krishna escaped leaving the lorry at the spot. Since Ajay Kumar knowingly gave his bike to Reshma, who did not possess the driving license, her father M Chandrashekar urged the police to take necessary action against him.

Chandrashekar also requested the police to take action against the driver Krishna. The police said Ajay Kumar was taken into custody while Krishna is still at large.
