Department of Biotechnology extends DBT-RA 2025–26 application deadline to May 27

Department of Biotechnology has extended the application deadline for the DBT-Research Associateship 2025–26 to May 27. The postdoctoral fellowship supports advanced research in Biotechnology and Life Sciences and offers stipends, HRA and contingency grants to selected researchers.

Hyderabad: The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, has extended the deadline to apply for DBT–Research Associateship (DBT-RA) 2025–26 applications, which was set for earlier this month, till May 27.

The prestigious DBT postdoctoral fellowship aims to nurture young scientists by providing opportunities to conduct advanced research in Biotechnology and Life Sciences at premier Indian institutions.


Applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or M.S. in relevant fields including those who have submitted their thesis are also eligible to apply. The age limit to apply for the fellowship is up to 40 years for male candidates and 45 years for female candidates.

Selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 55,000, plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) and an annual contingency grant of Rs 50,000. The associateship will be tenable for 2 years, with a possible extension of up to 4 years based on research progress, a DBT notification said.

Interested researchers should submit their applications online via the Common Fellowship Portal at fellowships.gov.in before May 27.
