Hyderabad: The BRS has intensified its fight for resolving public issues in Hyderabad, expressing outrage over a year of stalled development under the Congress regime in the State.

A delegation of BRS MLAs, MLCs and corporators, led by former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, met GHMC Commissioner K Ilambarithi on Thursday to submit a petition on issues plaguing the city.

The BRS elected representatives criticised the Congress government for abandoning key infrastructure projects initiated by the previous BRS administration, including flyovers, underpasses and sanitation improvements. They pointed to the poor maintenance of streetlights, lack of new Vaikuntha Dhamams and deteriorating road connectivity.

“The Congress government has not only ignored ongoing projects, but also cancelled the projects sanctioned by the BRS where 10-20 per cent of works have been completed, such as the Fatehnagar flyover expansion and the underpass in the Sanathnagar Industrial Area,” Srinivas Yadav told media persons after meeting the GHMC Commissioner.

The BRS also raised concerns over officials’ lack of adherence to protocol, stating that either their calls were blocked, phone calls went unanswered, with BRS local representatives being excluded from government programme updates.

Srinivas Yadav demanded immediate resolution of issues brought to the Commissioner’s attention, including the distribution of Indiramma houses and ration cards to eligible beneficiaries.

With a special meeting of the Greater Hyderabad BRS leaders scheduled for January 25, the former Minister announced that the party would unveil an action plan to pressure the government into addressing public grievances. “We have given enough time of more than a year. From now, the BRS will relentlessly fight for the people of Greater Hyderabad,” he affirmed.

Former Ministers P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Mohd Mahmood Ali, along with MLAs Maganti Gopinath, Madhavaram Krishna Rao, Mutha Gopal, Kaleru Venkatesh, Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, Bandari Laxma Reddy, KP Vivekananda, MLC Shambhipur Raju and GHMC corporators were present.
