Devotee dies of cardiac arrest while trekking hillock to Shiva temple in Mancherial

A 45-year-old devotee died of a cardiac arrest while trekking to the Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy temple at Velala village in Mancherial district on Maha Shivratri. He collapsed during the climb and was declared brought dead at a hospital.

Mancherial: A 45-year-old devotee died of a cardiac arrest while trekking a hillock to have darshan of Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy at Velala village in Jaipur mandal on the occasion of the annual Maha Shivratri festival on Sunday.

Police said Bingi Rajender, a resident of Naspur mandal headquarters, collapsed after complaining of severe chest pain. He was immediately shifted to a hospital, but doctors declared that he was brought dead. He was trekking the hillock along with his family members to reach the Mallikarjuna Swamy temple located atop the hill when the incident occurred.


Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Velala is a major abode of Lord Shiva in Mancherial district. Thousands of devotees from various parts of the district, as well as neighbouring Peddapalli district and Maharashtra, throng the temple and offer special prayers on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.
