Hyderabad: Crop protection company Dhanuka Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Hyderabad to jointly provide technical know-how and support to farmers in Telangana, besides exploring joint research in the areas of crop protection and use of drones in agriculture. Dhanuka Group plans to participate and sponsor conferences and together with the university will jointly conduct research activities in the field of crop protection chemicals. In partnership with the university, Dhanuka will encourage farmers to use modern agriculture technologies, which will play a vital role in increasing crop production.

R G Agarwal, chairman, Dhanuka Group, said, “Quality inputs, and use of modern technology such as drones for crop protection are crucial for substantially increasing the export of agricultural produce from Telangana and making the State a role model for others to follow.”

He called upon the State farmers to take the help of drones, robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI) and use the best quality seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides to increase the agri-yield, crop quality, and income of the farmers. The company has procured two drones and will train 30-40 drone pilots to aid farmers across India, including Telangana.

Given the vast resources and a vibrant farming community, Telangana has the right potential to emerge as a major centre for the export of farm produce, he said, adding, the need of the hour is to sensitise the farmers about the long-term benefits of using the latest technology and quality inputs, he added.

Dhanuka Group has been promoting the latest technology to help farmers increase yield. The company has the latest technological crop protection products (herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and plant growth regulators) and has technical tie-ups with two American, three European, and six Japanese firms.

The group has three units at present and is in the process of setting up a new unit in Gujarat with an investment of Rs 100 crore in its first phase. It is also setting up R&D centres pan-India. It plans to begin exports soon from its facilities.
