Dhanush Srikanth seals spot for Deaflympics 2025
Dhanush Srikanth, defending Deaflympic champion from Telangana, qualified for the 2025 Tokyo Deaflympics with stellar trial scores in Bhopal, continuing his dominance in both deaf and open shooting competitions
Hyderabad: Telangana’s shooting sensation Dhanush Srikanth, defending Deaflympic champion and student of Gun For Glory Shooting Academy, has qualified for the Deaflympics 2025 in Tokyo this November with stellar trial scores of 634.9 and 631.9 in the 10m air rifle event in Bhopal on Tuesday.
Dhanush made history at the 2022 Deaflympics in Caxias do Sul, Brazil, winning two gold medals and setting a world record score in qualification. Remarkably, despite being a hearing-impaired athlete with a cochlear implant, he has also won medals in regular international competitions, proving his dominance across both deaf and open categories.
Recently, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy honoured Dhanush with a cash award at the Telangana Sports Conclave for his exceptional achievements. Trained under coach Neha Chavan, Dhanush continues to inspire athletes across the state.
His mother, Asha Srikanth, said they were grateful to the Telangana government and Gun For Glory for their constant support.
“This qualification is a proud moment for our family and our state,” she said.
Gun For Glory co-founder Gagan Narang praised his ward, saying that Dhanush embodies the discipline and grit required to be a champion. “We believe he will make India proud again in Tokyo,” he added.
