Hyderabad: Dhruva Thota scored 5.5 points from six rounds to emerge champion in the under-14 boys category at the Telangana State Under-14 and Under-10 boys and girls Chess selection tournament at the Yoga Hall, LB Stadium on Friday.
Challa Saharsha, with five points, emerged first runner-up. In the Under-10 boys category, Pavan Karthikeya, who took top honours, and Ritesh Maddhukuri have been selected for the national event.
Top two players have been selected for the national championship.
Results: U-14: Dhruva Thota (5.5) drew with Challa Saharsha 5; Nirvan Bhamidi (5) bt Chidvilas Sai (5); Sriram Adharsh (5) bt Sushanth K (5).
U-10 Boys: Pavan Karthikeya Varma bt Kavish Aryan Lanka (4.5); Ritesh Maddhukuri (5.5) bt Aarush Singhai (4.5); Sri Venkata Siva Dutta Karthikeya (5) bt Prabhath Prajwal Ginjupalli (4);
U-14 Girls: 1. Gade Sharanya; 2.Shivamshika G;
U-10 Girls: 1. Modipalli Deekshitha; 2. Tanvee Tokala.
