Hyderabad: Everyone is stressed out in the pandemic, period. So, whether it is to escape struggles of working from home (or office) and the monotony of life, to move on from living in constant fear of contracting the virus, or to just breathe in some fresh air and unwind with loved ones, people have begun travelling like never before. When it comes to the biggest travel trend, the Covid era has seen, it is rejuvenating at places nestled in nature.
And what better place to travel to than Northeast India? It has many picturesque places to make you fall in love with nature. Sikkim, especially, is notable for its biodiversity, including alpine and subtropical climates, as well as being a host to Kangchenjunga, the highest peak in India and third highest on Earth.
But did you know Sikkim is also home to a unique waterfall named after a Bollywood superstar? Called Amitabh Bachchan waterfalls, it lies on the road connecting Chungthang to Yumthang Valley in Lachung. It gets its name from Big B, who is known to be very tall! It is one of the tallest waterfalls shown to tourists by local tour operators and cab-drivers-cum-guides. The falls are also known as Bhimnala or Bhewma Falls.
Back in 2019, the superstar himself didn’t have a clue about the tourist spot! A Twitter user had visited the falls and tagged Big B, who was also pleasantly surprised. Although it might be a bumpy ride to reach the waterfalls, it is worth visiting once with your friends to splash some freshwater on each other, click some magnificent pictures at the bridge just at the base of the falls, and enjoy sipping piping hot tea served close by.
