Mancherial: Authorities of the Disable Welfare Department provided a tri-cycle to a differently-abled person Annarapu Santhosh belonging to Ghanpur village in Nennal mandal, here on Thursday.
On November 18, MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao assured Santhosh of all support in response to a tweet by a software engineer who tweeted about the latter’s plight. Santhosh, whose two legs and hands were affected due to Osteogenesis imperfecta since childhood, sought a tri-cycle to move around on his own.
Accordingly, District Welfare Officer D Uma Devi provided the tri-cycle to Santhosh as per instructions of the Minister and Collector Bharati Hollikeri. She stated that steps were being taken to extend all support to him. She added that the department was implementing a slew of schemes for the welfare of differently-abled persons.
Santhosh expressed happiness for being provided with a new battery-run tricycle for him. He stated that he could now go anywhere without the assistance of anybody. He thanked Minister K Taraka Rama Rao and the authorities of the department for sanctioning the vehicle. He disclosed that he would appear in examinations of Class X with the help of the tricycle soon.
