Hyderabad: Dimple Hayathi had to shed six kilos of weight to suit the character that she played in the upcoming romantic action thriller ‘Khiladi’.
The Vijayawada-born dusky siren has already made her mark with an item number in Varun Tej starrer ‘Gaddalakonda Ganesh’.
Dimple also shares screenspace with star Ravi Teja and Meenakshi Choudary in the film. “Meenakshi and I together took part in the beauty pageant contest for Miss India. She stormed into the finals and won the title, while I had to step down midway through the contest. We knew each other but I felt she is a bit reserved when it comes to real life. We had a good time on the sets of ‘Khiladi’,” she adds.
The actor admits that she evolved as an actor since her entry into the film industry with a special song under Harish Shankar directorial.
“Every director has his own style of making and individuality. Harish garu gave me adequate space in the movie which defined my career. When Ramesh Varma of ‘Khiladi’ narrated the script and explained the characters of both the female leads, he left the decision to me to pick either of the roles. So every director is unique in his own way. The expectations of the film are skyrocketing, it’s nervous to have such a massive commercial release for me,” she adds.
Apart from action sequences that ‘Khiladi’ offers, Dimple says she will be seen in almost every sequence.
“Director Ramesh Varma had already told me that I had to shed weight to fit the role perfectly. The single ‘Catch me’ was shot after I shed six kilos of weight. I play a conservative Telugu girl in the movie. A girl-next door kind of with a half saree, but she also looks trendy. When it comes to playing a Telugu girl, certain limitations bog me down. But this one is completely off beat. That’s the reason I had to choose this role,” she adds.
