Hyderabad: Dinesh Kumar added 33 points to power G9 to a thumping 93-63 victory over Sanathnagar Playground in the Annual League Basketball Championship, conducted by the Hyderabad District Basketball Association on Thursday.

Nizam Basketball Academy (NBA) had the icing as they outplayed KPHB in the final two quarters scoring 60 points against 29 to win 92-77 after trailing by 16 points (32-48) at halftime.

Saikrishna of KPHB receiving admirable support from Chandu was in total domination but their experienced rivals led by Balaji who was unfortunately fouled out along with Majid and Lokesh literally made the KPHB side look pedestrian as they moved further for qualifying from Group D, having lost to Secunderabad YMCA earlier. NBA plays Supervek who have lost both their matches in the last round robin game and should find no hiccups in making the grade.

Victory Playground trailing 31-35 at halftime were led by veteran Amruthraj who scored 13 points in the 3rd quarter as VPG scored 21 and restricted Airborne to just 4 points and led 53-49. Shiva using his height and reach top scored for VPG doing most of his scoring from the offensive board while Sugun and Aditya were the notable performers for Airborne.

In a match of teams out of reckoning for qualifying from group F for the next level, HMT got the measure of Trinity Basketball Club at 71-68, being in arrears by 6 points (34-40) at the break. Sammy emerged the top scorer for the winner while Anurag was next best. For the loser, Hunny scored 22 points before being fouled out while Sahil scored 12.

Loyola Academy, G 9 and Eagles finished their schedule with 2 wins and a loss but Loyola Academy were unlucky not to qualify finishing with a quotient of minus 8. Both Eagles and G 9 qualified finishing 1-2 in the group Sanathnagar without a win and finished at the bottom of the group.

Results: G9 93 (Dinesh Kumar 33, Mithil Reddy 19) bt Sanathnagar Playground 63 (Khaja 14 Nikhil 13); VPG 63 (Shiva 19, Amruthraj 16) bt Airborne 52 (Sugun 11); NBA 92 (Majid 28, Lokesh 14) bt KPHB 77 (Sai 31, Chandu 16); HMT 71 (Sammy 27, Anurag 20) bt Trinity Basketball Club 68 (Hunny 22, Sahil 12).
