Hyderabad: State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday requested Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to instruct the Police Department “not to harass BJP activists using third-degree methods” in the districts.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here, he sought to know the reasons behind registering cases against BJP activists and tribals in Nalgonda district and allegedly using third-degree methods against them.
He alleged that police high-handedness had gone to such an extent that the police in mufti is detaining activists from their houses without any reason. “The family members were unable to identify whether the men in mufti were from the Police Department or kidnappers,” he said.
“The police are threatening the families of BJP leaders and activists for resisting police action. If the same situation continues for the next few days, the party will come up with an action plan to tackle the police high-handedness.”
