Kothagudem: The Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, Dr Ravinder Naik, visited Kothagudem district on Saturday to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the recent death of a pregnant woman, Kunja Vanaja.
He held a meeting with District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr Tukaram Rathod, DCHS Dr Ravi Babu, other medical officers and health staff. He collected information regarding the treatment provided to the deceased woman, the referral process and the circumstances that led to the incident.
Dr Naik examined the relevant records and instructed officials to conduct a thorough investigation into any lapses that might have occurred in the discharge of duties. He directed that the inquiry report be submitted to the government expeditiously.
He instructed officials to ensure that every health worker acts responsibly to prevent maternal and infant deaths and further improve the quality of medical services.
