Mancherial: Displaced residents of the Sripada Yellampalli irrigation project in Chanadanapur village alleged that they were running from pillar to post to get compensation for giving their land for the project. They submitted a representation to Collector Kumar Deepak here on Monday.
Dommati Mallesh, who lost 6 acres of land for construction of the project, said 50 residents opted to receive compensation of Rs 3.75 lakh in place of a house site in 2016. He stated that the residents were not given the compensation despite bringing the problem to the notice of officials several times. He charged that the house sites were now occupied by outsiders.
The residents urged the Collector to take steps to retrieve the sites and allot them to the land losers. They regretted that they were forced to migrate to different villages after being displaced by the project. They stated that they lost livelihood and identity after losing land to the project and were currently leading a pathetic life.
They said local MLA Premsagar Rao was showing negligence in resolving their problem even after visiting multiple times.
