Hyderabad: A man died after being attacked by employees of a hotel at Saroornagar following a dispute over the payment of Rs 600.

The victim was identified as Vislawath Shankar, a resident of Karmanghat, Saroornagar.

According to the police, a group of persons acquainted with Shankar had arrived in the city and checked in at N7 Elite Hotel located at Karmanghat on October 22. The next day, the guest checked out of the hotel.

“A dispute arose between Shankar and the hotel management over the payment of Rs 600, which led to an argument. During the argument, a group of hotel workers attacked Shankar with sticks and a chair, causing injuries to him,” said Saroornagar Inspector V Saidi Reddy.

He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment and given first aid before returning home. However, on Monday evening, Shankar developed health complications and was shifted to Osmania General Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment, the inspector added.

Based on a complaint made by Shankar’s family members, the police registered a case of murder against hotel workers Noor, Kamaluddin, Islam, and Raheem, and started an investigation.
