‘If bypoll is inevitable in Khairatabad, the ticket should be allotted to Raju Yadav’, read the hoardings that are displayed at a few places in the constituency
HYDERABAD: As the case on disqualification of turncoat MLAs is being heard in the Supreme Court, a section of loyal Congress leaders in anticipation that bypolls would be inevitable, have already commenced lobbying for tickets.
To this effect, a few hoardings and flexis have been put up at a few places under Khairatabad constituency. Apart from leaving the State Congress anxious, the move has also left Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender’s camp worried.
The hoardings sport the images of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and other Congress leaders.
The hoardings read: “If bypoll is inevitable in Khairatabad constituency, then the ticket to contest the election should be allotted to Raju Yadav, who has been serving the Congress since last 30 years…”
Representing the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Nagender had contested from the Khairatabad constituency in the Assembly elections held in 2023. He won the elections over Congress candidate P Vijaya Reddy. However, soon after the elections, Nagender shifted loyalties to Congress. However, he has been like a cat on the wall.
He hailed former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for implementing different welfare and development programmes. “He is a great leader. Telangana people will remember KCR garu for his welfare programmes. KCR garu is a Bhola Shankar,” Nagender had said in an interview in January.
Amidst a verbal duel between Congress and the BRS over the conduct of Formula-E race event, Danam Nagender had admitted that the event had enhanced Hyderabad’s brand image and drew international attention. Interestingly, he has been raising voice against the Congress government over a few issues, especially demolitions of a few structures at Chintal Basthi by civic authorities.
Regarding HYDRAA, Nagender had claimed that it should not show its strength on the poor and wanted to show its might against several illegal structures.
