Warangal: CPI state secretariat committee member Takkallapally Srinivas Rao said on Saturday that his party would hold protests in front of mandal offices on February 23 demanding that the State government distribute land to the poor free of cost.
Speaking at a meeting organised by the party Hanamkonda committee here, Srinivas Rao said the State government had issued GO MS 58 in 2014 to facilitate distribution of government lands, assignment of unobjectionable government lands and surplus lands under Urban Land Ceiling to an extent up to 125 square yards to poor families free of cost, but had failed to implement the order.
“In the meeting of all political parties held on December 16, 2014, it was unanimously stated that the government should take steps to regularise the possession of government lands, which are being used by the poor people for residential purpose by constructing dwelling units,” he said and added that all the political parties also unanimously proposed to consider assigning the land upto 125 square yards covered by a dwelling unit for persons below poverty line (BPL) on free of cost basis,” he reminded.
The CPI leader also asked the State government to extend help in the fight against the Narendra Modi government which, he said, was trying to divide the people in the name of religion for political gains. “Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is of late making comments against the Narendra Modi government. But he has refrained from making adverse comments against the Modi government. However, it is now proved that Modi is not doing any good for Telangana or the nation. Keeping this in view, Chandrashekhar Rao and his party leaders should support the Left parties in their relentless fight against the communal BJP and its government,” Srinivas Rao added.
CPI district secretary Mekala Ravi, former MLA Potharaju Saraiah, Naresh Dravid and others attended the meeting.
