Khammam: CPM district secretary Nunna Nageshwar Rao and its leader B Veerabhadram wanted immediate steps for handing over pattas to all eligible podu farmers in the district.
In a statement here on Monday, they wanted the State government to set up a dedicated mechanism for processing the applications submitted by tribals seeking pattas. The leaders complained that the applications received from podu farmers three months back were gathering dust at tahsildar offices.
In Khammam as many as 19, 000 podu farmers applied for pattas for an extent of 48, 000 acres and around two lakh farmers across the State applied for pattas for an extent of eight lakh acres. If the government failed to respond, farmers would be united to stage protests, they noted.
