Hyderabad: District Collectors are set to play a vital role in coordinating and managing the roll out of Covid vaccine across the State for healthcare workers from January 16.

The Principal Secretary, Health, Medical and Family Welfare, S.A.M. Rizvi on Tuesday in a memo urged District Collectors across the State to coordinate with various stake holders for smooth conduct of the first phase of Covid vaccine drive.

They were asked to ensure all infrastructure and logistical preparations for the launch of the Covid-19 vaccine is completed in advance. They should prepare a detailed checklist and ensure preparation for the launch systematically without any lapses. Special officers have to be appointed for each of the session sites to overlook the proceedings.

‘Only 30 beneficiaries will be identified for each session site for the inaugural on January 16. The pre-identified beneficiaries will be mobilised through network of district officials and functionaries without depending on messaging service. Manual registers will be kept as a back up in addition to the online Cowin platform,’ he said.

Rizvi also directed District Collectors to ensure emergency kits to deal with any adverse events are made available at all the vaccine sites. Ambulances will be kept ready at the session sites in order to transport the individuals to referral hospitals in case of any contingencies. “Mapping of ambulances and sessions sites to referral hospitals has to be done in advance. Additional vaccinators have to be kept in reserve at the session sites as a measure of abundance precaution,” he said.
