Districts and Hyderabad reel under intense heat despite sporadic spells of thunderstorms

Hyderabad: Notwithstanding the sporadic spells of thunderstorms, people in multiple regions of Telangana State, including Hyderabad, are experiencing intense heatwave-like conditions with temperatures consistently hovering between 41 degree Celsius and 44 degree Celsius.

In districts, based on the temperature data from Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), there are more than 50 locations in at least 15 districts that have experienced severe heat with average maximum temperatures hovering between 43 degree Celsius and 43.7 degree Celsius between Sunday (8.30 am) and Monday (8.30 am).


The districts that are witnessing such intense heat (43 degree C to 43.7 degree C) are Adilabad, Nalgonda, Siddipet, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Suryapet, Rajanna Sircilla, Jogulamba Gadwal, Jangaon, Mahabubnagar, Sangareddy, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Hanumakonda, Medak, Jagtial, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Khammam and Nizamabad.

In Hyderabad too, several regions in Kapra, Saroornagar, Amberpet, Shaikpet, Serilingampally, Khairatabad, and Hayathnagar have recorded average maximum temperatures of 41 degree Celsius to 41.6 degree Celsius.

Based on TSDPS data, the maximum temperature of 42.2 degree C was recorded at LB Nagar, followed by Kapra region at 41.6 degree C, Uppal recording 40.5 degree C and 41.0 degree C at Hayathnagar. The Saroornagar region recorded 40.8 degree, Malakpet recorded 41 and Santoshnagar recorded 40.9 degree Celsius.

Statewide forecast of IMD-Hyderabad on Monday morning has indicated that multiple districts in Telangana State will continue to witness high temperatures ranging from 41 degree C to 44 degree C.

“Light to Moderate Rain or Thundershowers very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana State and maximum temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 2 to 3 degree Celsius during the next three days,” the IMD-Hyderabad forecast said.
