Divit, Samanvith emerge champions in 230th Briliiant Trophy chess

While Divit Reddy won in a tie-break, Samanvith of Johnson Grammar School (Mallapur) won the junior title with six points from six rounds

Hyderabad: A Divit Reddy and Sri Samanvith won the Open and the junior category titles respectively in the 230th Brilliant Trophy chess tournament at Brilliant Grammar High School (Dilsukhnagar) here on Sunday.

Samanvith of Johnson Grammar School (Mallapur) won the junior title with six points from six rounds, while Velvendhan got second place with 5.5 points, and Snithik Vengala got third place with five points out of six rounds .


In the Open category, Divit Reddy and Ritesh Maddukuri tied for first place with 5.5 points from six rounds, but in a tie-break, Divit Reddy won the event while Ritesh and R.V.S.S Ramanjaneyulu finished second and third, respectively.

Open category: 1. Divit Reddy Adulla, 2. Ritesh Maddukuri, 3. R.V.S.S. Ramanjaneyulu, 4. Krishna Kalyan, 5. Viswa Alakanti, 6. Shreyan Thipparthi, 7. Nigama Sree, 8. Rishi Pallagani, 9. Amarnath Keerthi, 10. Siva Satyanarayana.

Boys: Under-15: 1. B. Rohit Yadav, 2. Mukunda Kaunteya.

Under-13: 1. Snithik Vengala, 2. P. Sathvik Reddy.

Under-11: 1. Sanathan Nanda, 2. D. Mukunda Mourya.

Under-9: 1. R. Velvendan, 2. R.S.A. Harvin.

Under-7: 1. Yuvan Rodda, 2. Devansh Pallagani.

Girls: Under-15: 1. B. Sahasra, 2. Kundana Thipparthi.

Under-13: 1. A. Pranhavi, 2. K. Abhinandana.

Under-11: 1. R. Manaswini, 2. Rushika Bhaskar

Under-9: 1. Harini Balina, 2. Sharika Tunki.

Under-7: 1. Sreenithi Tunki, 2. M. Lasya.

Best woman player: Akshara Kalyani.
