Hyderabad: IT professionals, university students and even a doctor were among those arrested by the Hyderabad City Police as it busted three drug rackets operated by organized gangs here on Saturday.
Briefing the media here, City Police Commissioner CV Anand said those arrested as part of the crackdown on drug gangs included professionals working in various positions in the IT industry apart from university students and other private colleges.
Of those arrested, 11 worked in IT companies, one was a student of a University, five were pursuing BTech and one was a doctor with a private hospital. Seven students, including two girls, were absconding.
“All of the arrested persons were consuming drugs after purchasing from drug cartels. Ganja, LSD blots, MDMA and Hash oil were seized,” Anand said.
A Nigerian, Nicolas Olusula Rotimy, was also arrested.
“The Nigerian national was staying in Puducherry and moved around various cities to sell drugs. He tied up with local suppliers and through them delivered the drugs,” the Commissioner said, adding that the gangs had switched to the Dark Net for placing orders and delivering banned items.
