Karimnagar: Doctors associated with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) as well as the Telangana Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (THANA) on Friday observed a black day in protest against the defamatory remarks made by yoga guru Baba Ramdev against the Allopathy medicines and treatment.

As part of the nation-wide call given by the IMA national unit, the doctors have downed their shutters from 8 am to 12 pm. All the doctors have observed the black day by wearing black badges. They had restored the medical services after 12 noon in the entire Karimnagar district.

On the other hand, the IMA leaders led by its president M Vasantha Rao, secretary Ram Kiran, State vice-president Dr Kishan, former State president E Vijayender Reddy, State president-elect BN Rao, THANA district president Ravikanth and secretary Srinivas and others submitted memorandums to Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar, BJP State president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Collector K Shashanka denouncing the remarks made by the yoga guru.

Similarly, the IMA women doctors wing members led by its chairman M Vijayalakshmi, district leaders B Jhansilaxmi and Sesha Shailaja and others also staged a dharna against the yoga guru’s remarks and also attacks on the medical fraternity. They demanded the government to take stern action against the persons involved in the attacks on hospitals and medical fraternity, who were relentlessly serving the people during the pandemic.
