Hyderabad: Telangana police special teams have reportedly detained Kalpana, a Nepalese domestic worker suspected of murdering Tanuja, the wife of a former Director General of Police (DGP), at her residence in Prashasan Nagar, Jubilee Hills, on May 8, and fleeing with gold ornaments.
Three other Nepalese nationals have also been detained along with Kalpana, and the police are questioning all four to establish their involvement in the murder and trace the stolen jewellery.
According to sources, Kalpana allegedly murdered Tanuja at the latter’s residence before fleeing with gold ornaments. Telangana police special teams had been pursuing leads for nearly six months before detaining the four suspects. The police are trying to establish whether the other three Nepalese nationals helped Kalpana escape, sheltered her or played any role in disposing of the stolen jewellery.
The murder came to light after Tanuja was found dead at her residence in the upscale Prashasan Nagar locality. Kalpana and other suspected members of the group were at large and were believed to have crossed the porous border into Nepal. However, a few people suspected of helping them dispose of the stolen property had been arrested earlier in the case.
