Hyderabad: TRS MPs on Friday lashed out at the BJP State leaders for making baseless promises and spreading false propaganda to gain advantage in the GHMC polls. They demanded of Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy and three other BJP MPs from Telangana State to spell out what their contribution was for the State’s development in the last one and a half years.
They said that considering the electoral promises given by the BJP leaders, one need not be surprised if Prime Minister Narendra Modi promises to distribute free COVID-19 vaccines to the people of Hyderabad during his visit to Bharat Biotech on Saturday.
Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan here, TRS Lok Sabha floor leader Nama Nageshwara Rao said since the State formation, the BJP government at the Centre has been cold-shouldering Telangana State consistently. He pointed out none of the four BJP MPs including the Union Minister raised any issues pertaining to the State in Parliament nor did they get any project sanctioned for the State. “Instead, the TRS MPs are forced to run from pillar to post even to get the State’s due share in tax devolutions and funds sanctioned by the Finance Commission,” he said.
He stated that the State government had been requesting national status for Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, Regional Ring Road, Navodaya schools and financial relief for recent floods in Hyderabad, but there has been no response from the Centre. “For this precise reason, the BJP is deploying its Union Ministers for a local body election like GHMC. The TRS government ensured a peaceful and conducive atmosphere across the State over the last six years. The BJP leaders including Union Ministers are making no such attempts and instead, are making provocative statements to incite communal tensions,” he added.
Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Hyderabad just before the GHMC polls, Nageshwara Rao said the former was making an official visit to Hyderabad to grab public attention and gain political mileage. “Neither the Prime Minister nor the Union Ministers visited Hyderabad during the floods or gave any financial aid. But they all are descending on the State just before the GHMC polls. The people of Hyderabad are wise enough to understand their intentions. We need not be surprised if the Prime Minister makes an announcement of free distribution of COVID vaccine eyeing GHMC elections,” he said.
MPs KR Suresh Reddy, Banda Prakash, BB Patil, P Ramulu, Manne Srinivas Reddy, MLC M Sreenivas Reddy and other senior leaders were present.
