Hyderabad: TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that the State government construct a new building for Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in the vacant land on its premises and desist from demolishing the old structure.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the Nalgonda MP wanted the government to grant Rs 1,000 crore for the new OGH building and develop it into a multi super-speciality hospital. The plans to demolishing the heritage building should be shelved, he said.
Stating that OGH’s name did not figure in the three new multi super-speciality hospitals being proposed in the State, he said about seven acres of vacant land is available on the OGH premises. A new hospital can be constructed in the place without disturbing the heritage building, he suggested.
Meanwhile, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka charged that several atrocities were being committed on Dalits and other weaker sections in the State.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, the CLP leader alleged that on the charge of stealing Rs 2 lakh, Mariamma, a Dalit woman, was brutally assaulted by the police resulting in her death.
Sangareddy MLA Jagga Reddy wondered whether the Home Ministry is actively functioning in the State. Despite such a heinous incident, Home Minister Mahmood Ali did not visit or enquire about the incident, he alleged, adding that Dalit organisations should fight against such atrocities in the State.
