Warangal: A couple from Narsampet in the district got lucky in the draw of lots held at Nani Gardens near Ursugutta for allotment of A4 retail liquor shops on Monday.
A liquor trader Gampa Rajeshwar Goud and his wife Gampa Sambalakshmi secured one liquor shop each under the new liquor policy 2025-27. They were allotted shop numbers 5 and 38 in Narsampet.
Their luck, however, did not stop there. It was learnt that Rajeshwar Goud had also applied for a liquor shop in the name of his acquaintance, Pranay, who too managed to win a shop in the same division.
The couple expressed happiness over winning the lucky draw.
The draw of lots was delayed in Warangal Urban as Hanamkonda Collector Sneha Shabarish, who was supposed to draw the lots, turned up late. The draw of lots was scheduled to commence at 11 am, but started after 12 noon.
Meanwhile, the Excise Department earned Rs 314.79 crore in the form of fee from 10,763 applications in erstwhile Warangal district, which includes Jangaon, Bhupalpally, Mahabubabad, Warangal Urban and Warangal Rural.
