Dr P Srihari takes charge as Director of DRDO’s RCI

Dr P Srihari, an Outstanding Scientist, has assumed charge as Director of DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat in Hyderabad. During his career, he has contributed to radar, missile defence, anti-satellite and MRSAM programmes, including key technology development and project leadership roles.

Dr P Srihari did his B Tech from Nagarjuna University & Master of Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore and PhD from Osmania University, Hyderabad.

He started his career in DRDO as Scientist ‘B’ in Electronics & Radar Development Establishment (LRDE), Bengaluru, and worked on the Multi-Mode Radar (MMR) for LCA programme. He designed & developed a multilayer slotted array antenna. The technology has been used for many other antenna programmes of DRDO, viz., ALH & BFSR.

He was instrumental in development of Kolar Radar Range and designed and developed Divert & Attitude Control System (DACS) for Interceptor Missiles for Indian Ballistic Missile Defence Programme. Cold Gas Reaction Control System (RCS) developed by him was successfully used in Target Missiles for Interceptor trials.

He is one of the core group member successfully executed Anti Satellite (ASAT) programme by intercepting a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite in March 2019.

He was Project Director for MRSAM (IAF) project, a joint developmental programme between DRDO & IAI and under his leadership, first Firing Unit was successfully inducted into Indian Air Force in October 2021.
