Warangal Urban: Dr Ragi Mallikarjuna Reddy, an Associate Professor and Head, Department of Geology, Kakatiya University (KU), Warangal, assumed charge as the Registrar, here on Thursday. He took charge from the Registrar (FAC) Prof Byru Venkatram Reddy at the Administrative Building on the campus.
Reddy, who is an elected president of the Association of the Kakatiya University Teachers (AKUT), is also discharging the duties of the Federation of University Teachers Associations of Telangana State (FUTATS). He worked as the chairperson, Board of Studies in Geology from May, 2018 to Apr, 2020 and also Joint Director of the KU Hostels from July Jul, 2006 to Aug, 2011. Reddy won the National Water Award-2018 for the RWS project aimed at conservation of the rain water on the campus.
He has a total of 27 years of teaching experience and guided two PhD scholars. Reddy completed two major projects; Petro-minerological and geochemical studies to identify rare metal and rare earth rich phases in Prakasam Province, Andhra Pradesh, granted by Department of Atomic Energy (BRNS), Govt of India, and Ground water management and regulation construction of rain water harvesting structures and impact studies in Kakatiya University Campus, granted by the Ministry of Water Resources (CGWB), Govt of India. Faculty members, non-teaching staff, scholars and others have congratulated Reddy on his appointment as the Registrar for one of the oldest universities in the State.
