Dr Sasikala of AIG awarded honorary fellowship of American Association
Dr. Sasikala received the fellowship for her contributions to the field of translational gastroenterology, particularly studying molecular mechanisms of endocrine pancreatic dysfunctions in diabetes, and for leadership in establishing research and training centres in India.
Hyderabad: Director (Research), Institute of Translational Science, AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, Dr M Sasikala has been awarded the honorary fellowship of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) for 2024. Dr Sasikala is the only Indian scientist to be featured in this year’s distinguished global list of fellows, AIG Hospitals in a statement said.
Dr Sasikala received the fellowship for her contributions to the field of translational gastroenterology, particularly studying molecular mechanisms of endocrine pancreatic dysfunctions in diabetes, and for leadership in establishing research and training centres in India.
Founded in 1848, the AAAS is the world’s largest general scientific society and publisher of the renowned journal Science.
Dr Sasikala said: “I am honored by this recognition. It reflects not only years of dedicated research but also the collaborative strength of Indian science.”
