DRDO showcases counter drone tech at Samrakshak in Hyderabad

DRDO showcased advanced indigenous counter-drone technologies at the ‘Samrakshak’ exhibition in Hyderabad. The event brought together defence labs, officials and industry partners to discuss futuristic threat solutions and highlighted efforts towards developing next-generation warfare systems.

Hyderabad: Defence Electronics Research Laboratory organised a one-day exhibition, ‘Samrakshak’, showcasing state-of-the-art indigenous counter-drone technologies developed by various laboratories of DRDO, here on Wednesday.

The counter-drone systems comprised radar by LRDE, Bangalore, RF detection and neutralisation system by DLRL, Hyderabad, EO/IR systems by IRDE, Dehradun, High Energy Laser Systems by CHESS, Hyderabad, High Power Microwave Systems by MTRDC, Bangalore, Acoustic Sensors by NPOL, Kochi and weaponised drones by DYSL-AT, Dundigal.


Further, the event provided a platform for fruitful discussions and tangible solutions for meeting futuristic threat scenarios. In his keynote address, DDR&D Secretary and DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V Kamat appreciated the efforts of various defence laboratories in evolving novel counter-drone technologies and systems to meet the paradigm shift in warfare.

He said the focus was on developing next-generation counter-drone systems, leading towards Viksit Bharat.

Over 300 officials, including DGs, directors and senior officials from tri-services and Ministry of Home Affairs, besides stakeholders, DRDO scientists, defence PSUs and industry partners, participated in the event.
