Hyderabad police caught a drug peddler with 45g hydroponic ganja, 2kg dry ganja, and Rs 1.03 lakh cash. He used GPS-based "dead drops" to receive and supply drugs. The cash was routed through others. A case has been registered
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing, along with the Charminar police, caught a drug peddler and seized 45 grams of hydroponic ganja, two kilograms of dry ganja and Rs 1.03 lakh net cash from him.
Acting on a tip-off, the team caught Ali Bin Hamid (46), a resident of Suncity, Bandlaguda, who received the ganja from a contact Captain alias Farhan, through dead drops modus operandi or local peddlers. After collecting it, Hamid was supplying it to consumers at a higher price and earning profits through the illegal trade, said Y V S Sudheendra, DCP (HNEW).
The cash earnings of the trade were handed over to two persons, Maaz and Moiz, at Gulzar Houz, who in turn routed it to captain. On information, Hamid was caught with the property seized from him. A case is registered at Charminar police station under sections of NDPS Act.
In the drop method modus operandi, the trafficker leaves the contraband in an unsuspected place in a safe manner and shares the GPS location with the receiver, who then reaches the spot and takes the consignment for further transit.
