Nirmal: A man from Maharashtra was arrested on Monday for stealing a TGRTC bus parked at a bus depot here.

Security guards of the public transport system and locals, who saw the accused take the vehicle away, caught him.

Nirmal Inspector Praveen Kumar said a security guard, Vamshi Krishna, filed a complaint against Yadawar Ganesh, who hails from Kini village in Nanded district of Maharashtra.

Ganesh, a catering worker, was in Nirmal in search of a livelihood two days ago. Under the influence of liquor, he stole the bus from the depot by hoodwinking the officials at night.

The accused also rammed the bus to a divider at Sofinagar in the town.

Locals turned suspicious when he could not produce his credentials. Security guards, who were already chasing him, nabbed him with help of the locals.
