Khammam: An unidentified youth created ruckus by attacking an RTC bus driver and pelting stones at the bus at Pinapaka stage under Wyra police station limits in the district on Monday.
It was learnt the driver while going to Kothagudem from Khammam tried to overtake a lorry and found the youth coming in the opposite direction on motorbike (TS04E Z7688) driving the vehicle in an erratic manner. Then he abstained from overtaking the lorry and let the biker pass on the road.
But a few moments later, the biker stopped the RTC bus, attacked the driver; abused him with obscene language and spit on the driver’s face. The youth did not stop even though the passengers onboard the bus pleaded with him to stop his unruly behaviour.
Finally, the youth fled the scene when the passengers tried using force to stop him. When the driver, ES Rao of Kothagudem depot took the matter to the notice of the higher authorities, they just gave him advice to file a police complaint and did nothing to help him.
When the driver went to the local police station, a police officer reportedly advised him to take the incident lightly but did not register a case. However, things started moving when an electronic media scribe of Khammam spotted the driver crying outside the police station. The driver lamented that he had never faced such atrocities in his 22 years of service.
The scribe posted the video clip of the incident on social media tagging TGSRTC Managing Director, Khammam Regional Manager and the district police. Following this, the police officer concerned called the driver to the police station to register an FIR against the youth while RTC district officials readily extended assistance to the driver.
